About Leashwise
by Amber Burckhalter
Over 25 years ago, Amber Burckhalter began her journey in the dog training industry, starting her business in a parking lot with just $500 and a chalkboard. Through her dedication and expertise, she built a successful career and significantly contributed to the field of pet dog training nationally.
She has held prestigious positions, including Chair and Board Member for The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and the APDT Foundation, receiving the first Chairman’s Award from APDT.
Amber’s credentials include certifications from NACSW, CPDT, and IAABC. She co-designed a nationwide program to end dogfighting for the HSUS and gained media attention, featuring on CNN, Animal Planet, NPR, and more.
Recognized as the Small Business Person of the Year by SBDC and listed in the 40 Under 40 by the Business Chronicle, she successfully built and sold a million+ dollar brand.
After taking a 2-year sabbatical following the sale of her dog training business, Amber founded and leads Leashwise, channeling her passion into assisting others and leveraging her vast experience to guide dog trainers in turning their businesses into profitable enterprises.
